Discover Denmark With The Dog

As a vacation destination, Denmark inspires by the wide beaches of the North Sea, with pure nature and with friendly hosts. If you want to spend your vacation in the northern neighboring country, you have the choice of countless vacation homes, which you can book in different equipment. Denmark is known for its excellently equipped houses and vacation apartments

Many of them are so large that you can travel with several families. Depending on the equipment, you will use your own sauna, whirlpool, or fireplace. But there are also cottages with simpler equipment. These are cheaper and are often located in very scenic locations. Decide whether you want to spend your vacation at the North Sea, at the Baltic Sea, or inland. You will find attractive vacation homes in all regions of Denmark.

Entering Denmark With Your Dog

If you live with a dog in your household, your four-legged friend can accompany you on vacation. When booking a vacation home or staying at a campsite, it is recommended that you find out in advance whether the landlord or tenant agrees with the four-legged companion.

As a rule, however, this is not a problem. You may have to pay a small extra charge for your pet. Also, find out about the formalities of entering Denmark with a dog. So there are some dog breeds that are not allowed in Denmark. These are so-called list dogs, a total of only 13 different breeds. If your dog is not one of them, entry is not a problem under the following conditions:

  • Proof of vaccination against rabies (entry with young dogs possible from the 15th week)
  • Microchip (also obligatory in Germany for dogs from the age of six months)
  • Alternative: tattoo of the dog
  • Collar with name and address of the dog owner
  • Maximum five dogs in one family

As these criteria are mainly valid for Germany as well, you can plan your vacation carefree and don’t have to worry about problems around your four-legged darling.

Denmark Is A Paradise For Vacation With Your Dog

In general, Denmark is considered a very dog-friendly country. For you, this means that you can take your four-legged friend with you everywhere. You can stroll relaxed with your dog along the beach or take a walk in the forest. You can discover the vast dune landscape with your four-legged friend.

Between October and March, you do not have to adhere to a leash requirement. In the summer months swimming in the sea is allowed. These are reasons for which many animal lovers choose a vacation in Denmark.

Should it ever be necessary, you can take advantage of comprehensive medical care for your four-legged friend in Denmark. In terms of food, you should decide individually whether you want to buy it locally or take it from home

If your four-legged friend is very demanding in terms of food, it may be advisable to bring the food from home. Then you save yourself a chance, where your dog may not be so well.
