The time required for reptiles is relatively small.
Unlike dogs, reptiles do not need a walk. Reptiles move when they feel like it, when they are hungry, when it is too uncomfortable at their place, or when they try to escape. Otherwise, reptiles don’t move much.
It is best to leave a reptile alone. Sure, your turtle won’t complain if you ever carry it around the apartment. But keep in mind that reptiles are not cuddly animals.
Just be sure to check the temperature and water daily. Other activities around the animal are limited to feeding and cleaning the terrarium. Of course, you should regularly engage with your pet and bring a fondness for it.
Feeding happens, depending on the type of reptile, daily to once a week or even longer. A snake in a healthy condition can easily go 2 months without feeding but not without water. For some reptiles it is generally a good idea to plan a fasting period of a few weeks once a year.
So if you can make sure that clean water is always available and the climate is regulated, then you can confidently go on vacation for three weeks without worrying about your animal.
Reptiles are therefore well suited for people who, for example, work long hours, or actually have little time for a pet but still do not want to do without it.
However: You must not neglect a reptile.
